This natural, mini gourd box with dragonflies may serve as a small jewelry box or a natural gift box.

This contemporary dragonfly motif is the result of over 20 years of artistic collaboration between our designers and master gourd artists Pablo and Ana Hurtado. Meticulously handcrafted by skilled artisans in Cochas, Peru.

Gourds Become Art

Nature starts the story, Peruvian artists complete it.

Gourds, relatives of pumpkins and cucumbers, grow along Peru’s coast and in the jungle. After harvest, they are sun-dried and brought into the Andes, where each one is carefully selected for its shape and size.

Artists first sketch each design in pencil, then carve it by hand with fine chisels. Using pyrography, a traditional technique passed down through generations, they carefully use fire to burn and shade the surface, revealing rich natural tones of caramel, brown, and black.
