"Natural Gardener" - Boruca Mask by Esteban

While munching on fruits, this gentle mammal and gentle herbivore of the rainforest spreads seeds and helps new trees sprout. The tapir or danta can be a reminder to live in peace and stay cool. Due to its many good qualities, it is highly revered by many indigenous cultures around the world.  This piece was created by artist carver Esteban Morales Lazaro in collaboration with painter Esteban Diaz Morales from the indigenous community of Boruca, Costa Rica.
