Co-designed for function and beauty by our design team and master gourd artists Sebastian and Raquel Rojas of Cochas, Peru, each vessel has been handmade in their family workshop. Exact shape and design may vary, size ranges from 3" D x 2-2.5" H

Gourds Become Art

Nature starts the story, Peruvian artists complete it.

Gourds, relatives of pumpkins and cucumbers, grow along Peru’s coast and in the jungle. After harvest, they are sun-dried and brought into the Andes, where each one is carefully selected for its shape and size.

Artists first sketch each design in pencil, then carve it by hand with fine chisels. Using pyrography, a traditional technique passed down through generations, they carefully use fire to burn and shade the surface, revealing rich natural tones of caramel, brown, and black.
