The Santa Makers - Lizzet Hurtado & Rodolfo García

Back in 2005, our new teammate, Amanda P., set out to draw a Santa Claus. Lizzet, eldest daughter of gourd artists Pablo and Ana Hurtado, was newly married and proud to have a new gourd workshop with her husband Rodolfo. So we sent the new design off to our office in Peru, who printed it and sent by bus up into the mountains to Cochas Chico. Then we waited! Rodolfo translated the drawing to a gourd, and Lizzet carved the amazing details. These Lucuma Designs' exclusive ornaments and boxes have been perpetual best sellers since 2006, and the artists have prospered ever since.
